FIVE SECRETS FOR RELAXING
We do not believe in fancy ass introductions.
You're here because you're probably exhausted, and need to relax.
So let's get on to it shall we?
Note: You do not need to do all five to feel relaxed. Test them out, maybe you end up with two or more, or less techniques that work for you.
No one's watching you, do you.
STRETCH OUT AND BREATHE
When taking deep breaths, your attention is drawn to the rhythm and experience of breathing – the calming effect can seem instant. It helps you detach from intrusive thoughts you might be experiencing or to simply shed stress out of your system.
Combining it with simple stretches (youtube is your best friend) and you’re not only relaxing your mind, but your body as well. Shake it of or stretch out, just move to break the cycle!
SOAK UP YOUR OWN CALM
Darken your bathroom, light your favourite scented candles and immerse your body in hot water.
The releasing effect of the hot water reduces stiffness, as well as relieving pain in joints.
If you don't own, or not into bathtubs, soaking your feet and/or hands will give you the same relaxing effect. Our hands and feet have enough nerves to match a full body soak.
While the water helps your body relax into a more comfortable state, your mind will follow.
LOSE YOURSELF IN MUSIC
Schedule some time to listen to your favourite music to fall into your own easy rhythm.
Music relieves that anxious feeling you get when thinking about a stressful event.
(Google Music Therapy)
Plug in your headphones while stretching out and allow your soul to be carried away by each relaxing note.
Even better? Sing it out! Load, low, humming works too. Sing like no one is watching (or listening).
TRY SOMETHING NEW
Art therapy is an increasingly popular relaxation technique (tons of research online).
Whether you want to try colouring mandalas to reduce levels of anxiety, or fancy seeing what happens when you freely brush across the canvas, or scribble on paper, you’ll find each and every stroke to be incredibly therapeutic, taking your soul to a magical state.
Don't judge yourself for the quality of the art. If modern art has proven anything, it's that anything can be art!
TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF
Sometimes you need to spend time alone to fully unwind. Book yourself in for a date with you and see where your soul takes you (with no self judgement!).
Sit and cry, watch t.v., take a stroll, stare at a wall, NO JUDGEMENT ALLOWED!
Whatever way you like to relax, make sure you plan in rejuvenation time for yourself.
Don’t forget to nourish your body as well.
After all we are basically plants with complicated emotions.
Stay Conscious!
